Believing that milking is harmless is a mistake. To produce milk, a cow must give birth. Her calf is torn away from her hours after birth, causing immense distress to both mother and baby. Male calves are slaughtered for veal, while the mother is sent to slaughter as soon as her exhausted body's output declines, long before her natural lifespan.
