The fact that it is impossible to have a perfectly zero impact on our environment is by no means a valid reason to inflict maximum harm. The pursuit of an unattainable ideal does not exempt us from making concrete ethical choices: the goal is to reduce avoidable damage wherever our agency is most effective.
